KENYA CULTURAL CENTRE STRENGTHENS INTERNATIONAL CULTURAL TIES WITH THE REPUBLIC OF COLOMBIA

The Kenya Cultural Centre continues to solidify its role as a hub for artistic excellence and international collaboration. On July 29, 2025, the Centre hosted H.E. Pedro León Cortés Ruiz, Ambassador of the Republic of Colombia to Kenya, during a courtesy visit to Mr. Michael Pundo, CEO of the Kenya Cultural Centre.

The meeting marked a significant milestone in fostering bilateral relations between Kenya and Colombia in creative and cultural arts. Discussions centered around enhancing cooperation and establishing structured cultural exchange programs that would support mutual learning, artistic growth, and cross-cultural understanding.

Both parties expressed a shared commitment to strengthening the relationship between the two nations through the arts. The proposed cultural exchange programs are envisioned to include artist residencies, joint performances, exhibitions, and educational initiatives that will bring together practitioners from both countries. These engagements align with the Centre’s broader goal of promoting cultural innovation and international artistic engagement.

The recent engagement with the Colombian Ambassador reflects the Kenya Cultural Centre’s broader vision of being a Centre of excellence in development, promotion, and commercialization of creative arts. As the world continues to recognize the value of arts and culture in diplomacy, innovation, and sustainable development, the Kenya Cultural Centre stands at the forefront of this cultural renaissance.

The courtesy call meeting concluded on a high note with a heartfelt presentation by a group of students showcasing youthful talent and adding a vibrant cultural touch to the occasion.
